Million Meter Row-A-Thon

Updated: Feb 14, 2023

2020 was a challenging year as I undertook rowing 1 million meters during the year ... it was the inspiration for starting this blog.

In 2021, we hope to take the message of the importance of exercise for those living with Parkinson's to the next level by rowing 1 million meters IN A SINGLE DAY!

I know, at first glance, that sounds impossible. But, it really is achievable if we get enough people to join us on October 23, 2021. A reasonable mix of a few hundred people (mix of those who can row 5-10,000+ meters and some who row only a few hundred meters or so) and we can get there!

First and foremost, we are trying to get the message out there that exercise is the best thing someone living with Parkinson's can do to help mitigate their symptoms. Forced, high intensity exercise has been shown to be the best form of exercise. Rowing engages over 80% of your muscle groups ... it is a challenging and rigorous exercise!

Additionally, we have formed the Row to Slow Parkinson's team to help find a cure through the Michael J Fox Foundation.

So, grab a friend (or a few) and get on a rower on October 23 for the Million Meter Row-A-Thon! Click the link below for more information.
